Test Results

Your doctor may ask you to make an appointment to discuss the results of your investigations but sometimes you may be asked to telephone the surgery for the results. If so, please allow a week to 10 days for most test results, two weeks for X-ray results, and phone after 14:00, when the receptionists have a little more time to look up your results.

Our reception staff are not qualified to comment on results therefore it is your responsibility to check them and make any necessary follow-up appointment with the doctor.

Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.

Specimens

If your doctor has asked you to provide a specimen for examination at the laboratory, please ensure that the specimen is fully labelled and brought to the Medical Centre before 10:30, as it will be collected by the hospitals each morning. Specimen bottles or containers are available, free of charge, from the surgery.
